Although there are a plethora of ways to describe my personality, looks, behaviors, etc., if I needed to choose one thing to define myself, it would be my ability to thrive and be positive—regardless of the situation. I began developing my tenacity to survive as I dealt with extremely difficult circumstances at a young age. My personal philosophy on life, which was instilled in me by an incredible friend, is that you can have anything you really want. My love for thriving and being positive extends to my ridiculous sense of humor, an innate desire to help others have the happiest life possible, and my passion for beauty and style.
LOOK BY LIZ LEWIS
I began developing the idea of branding myself and designing a blog/website about three years ago. However, I began writing when I was eight (hence why I eventually studied communications/journalism and English in college).I wanted and outlet where I could combine writing with my love of beauty and style. I chose "Look by Liz Lewis" because as a makeup artist, I love creating a look that's inspired by me, but personalized specifically to meet the needs of each individual.
BEAUTY
I created my first beauty inspiration board at 14. I began
cutting pictures out of Allure and InStyle magazine of looks and products that
beguiled me and taping them inside my bathroom closet. Those were the first
beauty and style magazines I ever read, and when I say read, I mean from cover to cover—even
the photo credits. My philosophy of beauty is that you should do whatever makes
you feel incredible, but I highly encourage everyone to be open to try a look
that might initially incite the thought, "I could never pull that
off!" You never know when something might surprise you.
Style is a unique and personal concept. The word, in my mind, automatically invokes images of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn—infuse that with a dash of Gwen Stefani, a generous helping of Blake Lively, a smidge of Katy Perry, a portion of Lauren Conrad, a sprinkling of Victoria Beckham, and a lot of moi, and you've got Liz Lewis.
PRETTY
One of my friends recently, told me, "Liz, you could never be a hipster—you like to wear sparkly things way too much." It's true; I am attracted to all things pretty, which quite often tend to be sparkly. What is my definition of pretty? Pore over my Pinterest boards and Instagram and follow my blog to discover my perception of pretty.
PARIS
To me, Paris is "The City of Liz." Nearly everything about it fits me (except the prevalence of cigarette smoke): the glitz, glamour, architecture, food, language, shops, and sheer magic that permeates the air. I had the privilege of studying there for three and a half months in college and would move there in a heartbeat.
You ar SUPER fab...and I'm honored to be in a photo on your about you section. Rawr!
